Setting Concepts:

Akuma - Akuma take the form of corrupted butterflies and are drawn to negative emotions. Hawk Moth creates them using the power of his Miraculous in order to turn humans into super villains. The Akuma fuses with a significant item of the person's and is released when that item is broken. However, unless it is purified, it will return if the person becomes emotionally unstable or weak again.

Cat Noir - The superhero in possession of the Miraculous shaped like a ring and guided by the black, cat-like Kwami named Plagg. In his current form he is Ladybug's partner, although he tends to follow her lead. His real name is Adrien Agreste, a fact that no one knows.

Hawk Moth - The villain who took possession of one of the Miraculous and has bent it's abilities to suit his nefarious purposes, rather than it's initial purpose of being a hero's power. His Miraculous is a brooch and the Kwami attached to it is a purple, butterfly-like creature named Nooroo. Nooroo does not like seeing the Miraculous used for evil and yet has little he can do to fight it, and so he is forced to obey. Hawk Moth's true identity is that of Adrien's father-- Gabriel Agreste, although our heroes are not aware of it.

Ladybug - A superhero who's presence has been felt since at least the age of Ancient Egypt. She is the only one capable of purifying the Akuma Hawk Moth creates with his Miraculous. Ladybug's Miraculous is a pair of earrings, and the Kwami tied to that artifact is a bug-like Kwami named Tiki. The current Ladybug is Marinette Dupain-Cheng, although nobody knows it.

Miraculous - The Miraculous are artifacts that allow a human to harness the power of the Kwami associated with it. They are a very tight-kept secret and even those who are in possession of them typically do not know their full origins much less which other Miraculous artifacts are in play or whom they are held by.

Kwami - Mysterious creatures with unique powers. They're small enough to fit into the palm of your hand, but capable of flying and quick movement that makes spotting or catching them if they don't want to be seen nearly impossible. They can talk but only do so with their partners or those who know about them. They all have unique characteristics that usually translate into the powers they grant -- for example Tiki looks like a ladybug and Plagg like a cat. The fact that their superheroes have been seen as early as the age of Pharohs heavily implies that these beings are immortal.

Personality: Marinette is a normal high school girl first-- and a butt-kicking superhero second. Despite the image people have of Ladybug, the girl behind the mask is a young girl who's real worries are making it to school on time, not falling on her face and whether or not she can manage to put together half a sentence when talking to the boy that she likes. She's cute and awkward and full of energy. Trouble has a way of finding her more often than not, but she's stronger than she looks- both inside and out.

There's one thing that can reduce her to a useless puddle no matter what, though. Or at least someone. Adrien Agreste is the object of her undying girlish affections; her wall space reserved for different pictures of him. Although they got off to a bad start- when things turned around they turned one hundred and eighty degrees. In his presence she has a hard time forming words, much less sentences. And when she talks about him it's clear she has big dreams. Dreams to the tune of three kids, a dog and a hamster. Never mind that right now she's incapable of even asking him to a movie-- all things in due time.

Her other great passion is design. Her room is full of trade tools from mannequins to sewing needles. She does all of her works by hand and has had a number of distinct honors because of her great talent; including designing the album cover of her favorite rock star and designing a hat for one of Adrien's photoshoots. She's creative and hard working - one failure is never the end for her. There are times she won't get it right on the first try, but she has the determination required to stick it out and try again.

Marinette shows great care for people as a whole. She genuinely cares for all her classmates and tries her best to do right by them, whether it's cheering up one who just got rejected by a girl or being the one to take charge when they're in danger and the group needs some direction. The fact that she listens to them and cares about them is what got her elected as their class representative over Chloe's bribary.

While she ultimately strives to do the good and right thing; Marinette has a few character flaws that get in the way every so often. More than once, the girl's jealousy reared it's ugly head, causing her to take actions she later regretted. And try as she might, she has a low tolerance for bossy types not unlike her classmate Chloe-- who gets on her nerves better than anyone. It's also not unlike her to spread herself too thin; having a hard time turning anyone's requests down, ultimately leading to some not so great turnouts. Juggling her normal school life and her superhero duties has lead to some poor patches of attendance in her record and made her look like she was neglecting her friends or responsibilities.

Although she makes mistakes big and small, she's learned to take responsibility for them, even though she still has the bad habit of sometimes going too far out of her way to try and 'fix' certain messes - like taking Adrien's phone home with her when she can't figure out how to erase the embarrassing message she accidentally left him. There's also no denying that she has a selfish streak that can blur the lines of right and wrong (particularly if it has to do with Adrien). But compared to her selflessness, it shows far less.

But her confidence has come a long way, even if it still falters now and then. While she still questions her abilities from time to time, she's embraced the idea of doing what she's able to in order to help others. For her, fighting isn't about beating her opponent - it's about saving them. That's why even if it's one of her friends who's been corrupted, she doesn't have any problem standing against them.

Appearance: this but also this

Abilities: Her powers come from the Kwami known as Tiki- a small, bug-like creature and a relic known as a Miraculous. By absorbing Tiki's powers into the Miraculous (a pair of earrings she always wears) she's able to magically transform into Ladybug. Because it's a magical transformation, her mask can't simply be removed- the suit is treated as a part of her until she transforms back.

As Ladybug she employs super-human speed, strength and a magical yo-yo that help her fight her enemies. It makes bouncing back from strong blows, running along the sides of buildings and cutting through items as strong as steel with the rotary motion from her yo-yo all possible. Of course, there's a natural limit to how long she can remain in this form. She's using Tiki's energy to remain transformed. So Tiki needs to be in top form and well-fed to maintain this form. Her earrings display a number of spots which decrease over time, letting her know how close she is to transforming back. Because her identity should be kept a secret, this is pretty important to keep an eye on.

Ladybug's special power is known as her Lucky Charm. It's a one shot trick that grants her one special item that when used correctly- should be able to help her win. The downside is that they're usually odd items and finding out how to use them is all up to her. Using her Lucky Charm also uses up a lot of energy so once she's used it, she only has a few minutes before she has to change back, regardless of whether she uses it right away or a few minutes down the line.

Inventory: Aside from her normal school clothes and Miraculous earrings, Marinette has a small clutch purse that holds an emergency sewing kit, some wrapped up cookies and a pen and small notebook.

With the Miraculous earrings comes her Kwami, Tiki. And when she transforms, she's also in possession of a magical yo-yo which she uses to fight.

Soul Gem: A dark silver bangle with a red gem set in the center similar to this.

Third Person: Coming back meant a lot of things to Marinette. The most important one was that it meant she'd been gone and for who knows how long. There were a whole slew of others from 'what happened to the others' and 'is everything okay' types of thoughts. But first and foremost she couldn't stop thinking about Adrien. What had he thought when she suddenly disappeared? Was he still here? What happened to the place they were sharing? Was he mad? Or worse-- had he been upset? When she came here for the first time, he'd told her that she had been there before but she couldn't remember anything like that. Now she was very distinctly aware of all of it.

She'd been living with Adrien for months. Then she'd found out that he was Chat Noir. He'd even said that he loved her.

And Midii, Klaus, Bisi, Valdis... she remembered all of them.

Taking all this back in at once, her brain was going so fast that she was actually starting to feel a little bit dizzy. But she didn't have time to slow down. Marinette ran as fast as her legs could carry her down the street. More than once she almost bowled innocent people passing by down when she took a wild turn or stopped to look around. Her first destination became the Cat's Paw, the little cat cafe Adrien had been working at. She didn't want to think about it too hard, but the reason she probably picked that place first was because going to the place they'd lived scared her.

What if he'd moved on? Or worse... what if he was gone?

But it didn't matter how much it scared her. She needed to go. Marinette forced herself to keep up that frantic pace until she reached the familiar apartment. Although she hesitated when she went to knock-- it was only a second before she forced herself to knock loudly.

"...come on Adrien... please be here..."

Her throat felt tight, voice filled with hopeless desperation. She'd take anything the world wanted to throw at her. Just... they couldn't take this one thing from her. Not Adrien. Not now when they were finally getting somewhere.

Network: [ Video ]

[In her whirlwind of a return, it's a while before Marinette finds herself a place to access the network. Before she does anything else, she scans through the records and very quickly she finds what she needed to. Nothing she wanted to see, but... there it was. Her emotions are all over the place. In her own little rush, she probably doesn't seem okay herself.]

Uh-- oh! Hey everyone!

[Marinette waves quickly at the screen, smiling awkwardly.]

Ugh. So... I'm okay. Just in case anyone was worried-- not that I think anyone was really worried, I just...

[Breathe, Marinette.]

Sorry, this is just all kind of crazy. I can't believe I just disappeared like that. But, uh-- I'm back?

[That probably has to be the worst reunion speech of all time. Seriously. But for the next part she has to dig into some of that Ladybug strength that tended to elude her in her everyday life.]

And Adrien!!! If you were trying to forget me, I swear to god I'll never forgive you.

[Liar. But she is mad. With good reason, in her humble opinion!]

Game Origin: Tu Shanshu

CRAU Changes: Physically and ability-wise, Marinette is still the same as she was back home at her canon point. Emotionally she hasn't changed a whole lot, but coming to Tu Shanshu did force her to re-evaluate her position on the whole superhero alias secret-- at least with Chat Noir. Dancing back and forth she uncovered some part of her that was attracted to her partner, but buried it under a whole lot of denial because naturally Adrien could be the only one for her. At least-- until she realized they were one and the same. That lead to an emotional confession and then-- well, the way she acted around Adrien changed. Even she doesn't know how to act sometimes. One moment she'll be more like the shy and lovestruck Marinette and the next she catches herself teasing him in good old Ladybug fashion. This is because she hasn't quite figured out yet how to balance her feelings, much less the different sides of herself around him. But it has helped her become a little more confidant.

Not... exactly always in her relationship with Adrien. Although they shared their feelings, it wasn't like either of them were really good at acting on it and letting it develop. So she can't help but still be jealous of other girls he's really close with. But it's a weakness she's very aware of, especially now. So she's trying to work on it and struggling through it bit by bit.

Adrien and a few others were also responsible for giving her the push she needed to make her decision on starting a little sewing business. It wasn't anything fancy, but thanks to the confidence of her friends, it was something she was really able to be proud of.
